Andrey Berezhnoy, the founder and CEO of the Russian shoe manufacturer Ralf Ringer, is under house arrest. The businessman himself spoke about this at a meeting of the public council of the center for public procedures “Business Against Corruption,” RIA Novosti reports.
According to investigators, in the period from 2014 to 2016, Berezhnoy submitted declarations to the tax authorities with false information about the transactions of Ralph Ringer JSC, which led to a reduction in taxes payable in the amount of more than 45 million rubles. As Berezhnoy stated, the statute of limitations in this case expired in March 2023, but he himself refused to close the case, as he considers himself innocent.
“A criminal case was initiated before the tax authority’s decision came into force… The case was initiated a year before the company’s obligation to pay… We are solvent, we are ready to prove our innocence in court, but we just continue to seize property,” Andrey Berezhnoy comments.
Currently, Ralf Ringer continues to litigate with the tax authorities in arbitration courts due to insurance premiums, taxes, fines and penalties, hundreds of millions of rubles appear in the cases, and the company may face bankruptcy.
