Online Stores Taxed

Online stores in Russia must pay taxes on a par with oil and gas companies, says Alexei Mitrofanov, head of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Information Technology and Communications. He expressed this opinion at an expanded meeting of the board of the Ministry of Telecom and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation.

"I think that, one way or another, we will approach the great task of taxing Internet resources. Technologically, I think, we are ready for this, but we will still mature legislatively. But it will not take long to mature," said Mitrofanov. According to him, there are 40 thousand online stores in Russia.

"Why do we only pay for oil and gas workers and those who make metals. This is wrong, they are already tired. Some new approaches are needed here," the deputy stressed.

Online stores in Russia will have to pay taxes.
