Kazan GUM will replace a pool of tenants

The Kazan four-story GUM will almost completely replace the tenant pool. Instead of individual entrepreneurs, who now occupy most of the stores in GUM, about 50 federal and large regional retailers will settle in the shopping center. According to Knight Frank, the exclusive consultant for the reconception and leasing of space in this shopping center, "only two or three operators" will remain from those currently operating.

The replacement of tenants in GUM is associated with the emergence of a new concept for a shopping center, according to which it should be reoriented to a youth audience. The project developer, the Edelweiss Group company, expects to place shoe and clothing brands, as well as cosmetics and perfume stores, that are popular among young people in the shopping center.

Investments in a reconception project are not called. The opening of the updated facility with an area of 13 000 sq.m is planned for the autumn of 2011. The first launch of the GUM in Kazan took place in 2002.

“On the fourth floor of GUM, we first wanted to place only an anchor tenant on an area of 2200 sq. M,” said Anna Schapova, senior consultant at the retail real estate department at Knight Frank, “but it turned out that this idea is not popular among retailers. Most likely, we will make a food court there. ”

One of the anchor tenants in the Kazan GUM will be the Terranova clothing chain store, which will occupy the 1 300 sq.m. ground floor.

“We can say that this is the first Terranova store in street retail,” said Anna Schapova, “since it will have a separate entrance from the street. The retailer’s outlet will occupy two floors in GUM. Its opening, as we expect, will take place in early December 2011. While negotiations are ongoing on this topic. "

Among the retailers considering the possibility of their placement in the Kazan GUM, the consultant calls “Rive Gauche”, MoonSoon, etc., the site retailer.ru writes.
