The crisis brings logistics to outsourcing

In 2015, the growth rate of outsourcing of transport and logistics services will increase by 20% and exceed 800 billion rubles.

City Express, which is one of the leading logistics operators in Russia, conducted a study that showed that during economically unstable periods, companies actively transfer outsourcing logistics services. The same thing began to be observed from the second half of the 2014 year. According to estimates by the City Express analytical department, under the influence of emerging trends in 2015, the share of outsourcing of logistics services will be about 36% of the total market, exceeding the mark of 800 billion rubles.

“This approach is due to many factors: it gives large companies the opportunity to optimize costs and focus on core activities without the need to maintain a fleet of vehicles, a warehouse, appropriate personnel, provide serious IT support, and have significant infrastructure,” comments Alexey Kichatov, CEO of City Express. In addition, delivery service companies are more motivated and work more efficiently than their own divisions due to high competition in the market. It is expensive for small and medium-sized companies to build logistics on their own, while business development requires constant cost savings. For example, in the cost structure of Internet retailers, logistics costs average about 5%, which is significantly higher than in developed countries, and this is not only due to long distances. "

According to various estimates, at present in Russia only about 30% of companies outsource their logistics.
