The new Manolo Blahnik boutique in London's Selfriges department store looks like a smart and relaxing living room. The boutique will present the most famous models of brand shoes, writes Footwearnews.
The new 170 square meter space reflects Blanik's love of vibrant colors. The furniture in the interior of the boutique is characterized by a variety of bright colors - purple, turquoise, yellow, milky blue and red. The same colors are present in the design of shoe shelves on the walls.
“We are developing a concept of craft minimalism based on the beloved French interior designer Manolo Blanic, Jean-Michel Frank,” said architect Nick Leith-Smith, a long-time employee of the brand who has always been involved in creating new designs projects Manolo Blahnik in retail. “Our goal was to intentionally clean out the design, focusing on simple shapes and exquisite materials.” We wanted the store to resemble the space of a peaceful living room. ”
Blahnik added that he wanted to create something similar to what he saw in Frank's drawing room. “I saw this living room in my youth, and still believe that it was one of the most beautiful rooms I have ever seen,” he said.
Over the past few years, the brand has significantly expanded its retail presence. The latest boutique openings took place in Geneva, Paris and Singapore. A new men's shoe store was also opened in London.
And as we wrote earlier, this week the company parted ways with its US partners, President of Manolo Blahnik USA, George Malkemus and Anthony Yurgaitis, who have been developing the brand’s business in the USA under license for 37 years. Now Manolo Blahnik is preparing to take control of his North American business and is planning significant strategic investments in this market.
