Marco and Belvest will produce 12 million pairs of shoes

At a meeting in the Belarusian government on the development of light industry, the issue of increasing the production of footwear by the companies "Marko" and "Belvest" to 12 million pairs per year was discussed.

It is proposed to create a holding on the basis of Marko, where in five years it is necessary to increase the production of shoes from 4 to 6 million pairs a year, or 1,5 times, and to create a new leather and fur production. Belvest plans to increase shoe production by 3 times - from 2 to 6 million pairs a year for six years, Belta agency reports.

During the presentation of business plans, it was noted that their implementation is possible only with state support. To this end, drafts of relevant regulatory legal acts have been developed.

Prime Minister Mikhail Myasnikovich, who chaired the meeting, instructed to study in detail the raw material supply of domestic shoe manufacturers, pay attention to improving the quality and assortment of their products, and improve marketing activities.
