The Italian group OTB, which owns fashion brands such as Margiela, Jil Sander, Marni, Victor&Rolf and Diesel, has acquired a controlling stake in luxury shoe manufacturer Calzaturificio Stephen.
Calzaturificio Stephen, based in Italy, has been a strategic supplier to the group for over 20 years, producing the popular Tabi footwear for the OTB Maison Margiela brand. The acquisition is part of the fashion group's strategy to optimize its supply chain by acquiring Italian companies to support the development of its brands. For example, in 2023, it acquired a controlling stake in the leather goods atelier Frassineti.
Details of the deal have not been disclosed. The current CEO of Calzaturificio Stephen, 47-year-old Stefano Bertollo, part of the second generation of family owners, will remain in his post. According to the statement, OTB will provide the company with resources aimed at "supporting the further development and evolution of the company in terms of technology, innovation and sustainability."
The OTB fashion group owns a portfolio of brands including Margiela, Jil Sander, Marni, Victor&Rolf and Diesel, as well as manufacturers such as Brave Kid and Staff International. In 2023, net sales were 1,8 billion euros, up 9,1% from 2022.
