Italian designer Alessandro Michele, who left Gucci last November, has been appointed the new creative director of the Valentino fashion house. Valentino announced the new appointment about a week after the resignation of the fashion house's former creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli.
“The appointment of Alessandro Michele as creative director of Valentino marks another decisive moment in the history of the brand,” comments the house’s president, Rashid Mohamed Rashid. “Alessandro Michele is an exceptional talent and this appointment underlines our strong ambitions for the house.” I firmly believe that with his exceptional creativity and sensitivity, he will continue to strengthen the brand's heritage and its identity as an unrivaled Italian fashion house. With him, a new page of perfection and endless beauty will be written in the history of Valentino.”
The Rome-based designer, born in 1972, will take over as creative director of the fashion house on April 2. His first collection will be shown in October during Paris Fashion Week, dedicated to the spring-summer 2025 season.
