In the north of Kamchatka, after the 15-summer break, the leathers shop was launched

A shop for the dressing of leathers of sea and fur animals was opened in the village of Ossora, Karaginsky district, in the north of Kamchatka. As reported by IA REGNUM with reference to the regional governor's press service, the workshop started working after a 15-year break on the basis of the former state industrial farm "Karaginsky".

In the new leatherning workshop, members of the Kainyn clan community plan to process leathers of sea and fur animals, as well as deer leathers. In addition, soon a workshop of folk crafts will be opened in the workshop, where local craftsmen will produce clothes and shoes, as well as traditional souvenirs.

“A return to the traditional way of life of the indigenous peoples of the north is a very important aspect in the life of the northerners. You would have seen what an emotional outburst all the residents here are experiencing, because indeed, in Koryakia there has long been nothing like this. I am very happy, and I am overwhelmed with feelings, because it is already with our participation. These are our first work milestones here in Koryakia. I think that in other areas there will be similar holidays, new enterprises will be opened. At least, we will make every effort to do this, ”said the head of Kamchatka, Vladimir Ilyukhin.

At first, 12 representatives of indigenous minorities will work in the workshop, subsequently the community plans to increase the staff. As part of a joint project with the North-East Company fishing company, the community has already created crews equipped with equipment for marine hunting. Together with the fishing industry, Kainyn plans to harvest a sea animal. In addition, the Northeast Company plans to attract indigenous representatives for fishing.
