About a year after the announcement of the partnership between the two Italian shoe brands Tod's and Automobili Lamborghini, their first joint collection of men's and women's shoes was presented, consisting of two models: the iconic Tod's Gommino and sneakers, available in yellow, green and blue.
“This is a union of absolute quality with a company with very sophisticated design. This is a product that will work. They are strong in the automotive sector, we produce driving shoes. It’s a fresh and well-thought-out idea,” said Tod’s Group owner Diego Della Valle during the presentation of the collection at the Pitti Uomo men’s fashion fair currently taking place in Florence.
Tod's Gommino signature loafers are inspired by the liveries of Lamborghini super sports cars. On the sole of the shoe, the characteristic rubber bumps have become larger, they repeat the color of the heel or upper.
The sneakers come in four color options, ranging from plain white to a vibrant combination of grey, white and green. Inspired by Tod's low-top sneakers, the new sneaker features a sleek leather upper with suede overlays, signature lugs on the shoe's heel, and a Lambo logo on the upper.
The shoemaker noted that the leather used in the collaboration's pieces is sourced from top tanneries and the production process requires a high level of craftsmanship, with leather cutting and visible stitching done by hand.
The collaboration between the two brands will not be a one-time thing. The presented collection is the first step of a broad project, which also involves the production of leather goods and a clothing collection.
