At the end of 2013, the volume of retail sales of leather footwear amounted to 564,8 billion rubles, an increase of 2012% compared to 5,4 (in 2012, the growth was 13%), according to RBC.research in its research “Russian retail footwear sales network - 2014 ".
Excluding inflation, the increase in retail sales of leather shoes in 2013 was 2,2%. Market players also indicate a decrease in sales in 2013, as well as in the first half of 2014, in connection with which they have to look for new solutions for selling their products.
In the structure of shoe sales, women's shoes dominate. This is the most capacious segment of the Russian shoe market. According to Rosstat, in 2012 the share of this category in total shoe sales was 55%, increasing to 58% in 2013, which occurred against the backdrop of a decrease in men's shoes sales by 3 percent. The share of sales of children's shoes in 2013 was almost unchanged compared to 2012 and amounted to 12%.
