Rockport introduced the limited edition Morgan Coast

Rockport, an American brand of men's and women's shoes, introduced the second edition of the legendary Morgan Coast series. The line includes two models created on the basis of the original 1994 collection of the year, with which Rockport became the official partner of the Whitbread Round the World regatta (later renamed the Volvo Ocean Race).

Participants in the famous Whitbread Round the World regatta could be sure that Rockport shoes would not let them down during the exhausting round-the-world competition, which lasted nine months. Today, after eighteen years, the brand’s design team has been able to recreate the style of the legendary Morgan Coast. In search of natural canvas, previously used on yachts, they visited many marine schools in Boston and its environs. To create 200 unique pairs, about 16 and M2 colored vintage fabric were needed.

Eco-friendly technologies and materials were used in the production of models, including EVA (ethylene vinyl acetate), which provides maximum comfort when walking. Each pair has a non-slip rubber sole, is protected from getting wet, and at the same time is equipped with a breathable mesh fabric, which is especially important when playing sports.

The limited edition Morgan Coast models are available in two colors. The line features bold finishes and yacht-inspired details such as:
metal rings for traditional circular lace-up and more durable rubber sole, characteristic for yacht shoes;
zigzag stitch resembling the seams of a real sail;
shoelaces imitating a nautical rope;
metal lacing fasteners inspired by the sail device.

The updated Morgan Coast Limited Edition symbolizes Rockport's continued commitment to sporting initiatives, including yachting and sailing regattas. “We were challenged to introduce a new edition of the iconic collection to keep up with the spring / summer 2012 trends,” said Dave Pompel, Head of Men's Shoes, Rockport. “These models are of particular relevance to Rockport as they embody the brand's philosophy, applying innovative design and cutting-edge technology to create the ultimate shoe experience.”

The updated collection is released in a limited edition - only 200 pieces will appear in the world, and only 15 of them will be presented in Russia. Each pair of Morgan Coast is individually numbered and will be a real find for collectors. In Russia, the limited edition Morgan Coast will be exclusively presented at the Rockport concept store in the Evropeyskiy mall from March 15, 2012. The price will be 20 rubles per pair.
