Russian trail Kari

The shoe retailer kari (a project of Igor Yakovlev, the founder of Eldorado) entered Rostov-on-Don. Shop with an area of 224 sq. m was opened in the Megamag shopping center on July 17, 2012.

According to Valentin Dmitriev, general director of the project, the first kari store was launched in May 2012. By mid-July, there are 80 stores, of which 59 are in Russia, 10 are in Poland, 6 are in Ukraine, and 5 are in Kazakhstan. The company plans to open another 180 points by the end of 2012 in the cities of Russia and neighboring countries. Total investments in 2012 will amount to $ 150 million.

The kari shoe chain operates in the fast fashion format and is aimed at an audience of 17 to 40 years old. The assortment of the store includes men's and women's shoes under its own brands. The network positions itself in the mass market segment. The area of kari objects is on average 300 sq. m.

The volume of the Russian footwear market, according to Euromonitor, amounted to $ 2011 billion in 21,8. According to the INFOLine & Retailer Russia TOP-100 2012 rating, the market leader is TsentrObuv (TsentrObuv and Centro chains) with revenue in 2011 d. $ 1 billion excluding VAT.

According to Andrey Nesterov, General Director of TsentrObuv Trading House, in 2011 the most notable growth was shown by the lower price segment of the footwear market - at the end of the year its share was 55,4% in physical terms. The top manager expects this dynamics to continue in 2012. As Andrey Nesterov said during INFOLine & Retailer Russia TOP-100 DAY, one of the incentives for the development of this segment is the outflow of buyers from clothing markets. In 2012, CenterObuv, which currently has 800 stores, intends to launch another 2012 retail outlets in 371 and increase revenue by at least 35%

Dmitry Kostygin (together with August Meyer in April 2012 acquired 40% of the Obuv.com shoe discounter chain) also considers the lower price segment of the shoe market promising. “In the near future, the footwear market will change dramatically. The reason for this is that in recent years China has significantly improved the quality of its products, while the price, on the contrary, has decreased. In addition, the situation at customs has improved, ”the speaker explained. According to Dmitry Kostygin, Obuv.com, which now has 60 stores, plans to increase their number to 100 by the end of 2012. TsentrObuv has pulled out far ahead and will remain the market leader in the coming years, but it makes sense to compete for second or third place ", - he noted. Writes about this retailer.ru.
