Retail Sales Slowed In August

In a study by Rosstat, a slowdown in retail sales in August was found to be 4% in annual terms. Compared to July, the indicator grew by 2,4%.

In absolute terms, the retail turnover in our country in the last summer month reached 2,032 trillion rubles.

For the period from January to August of this year, retail trade turnover grew by almost 4% compared to the same period of 2012. Last year, for eight months, retail grew by 7,1% in annual terms.

This year, the Ministry of Economic Development predicts retail turnover growth by 4,2% versus 5,9% for 2012 year. The forecast was lowered in August from the previously expected 4,3%.
