French luxury holding Kering Group has unveiled a new creative director of the Gucci brand. It was the 39-year-old Italian designer Sabato De Sarno, who is currently the director of the menswear and womenswear department of Valentino.
“I am delighted that Sabato will be joining Gucci as the new Creative Director of the Maison, one of the most influential positions in the luxury industry. Working with some of Italy's most famous luxury fashion houses, he brings a wealth of experience and cutting-edge vision. I am confident that with Sabato's deep understanding and appreciation of Gucci's unique heritage, as he leads our creative teams, he will be able to write the next exciting chapter in the Maison's history, cementing its credibility," said Gucci President and CEO Marco Bizzarri.
Italian designer Sabato De Sarno started his career at Prada in 2005 before moving on to Dolce & Gabbana. In 2009, he joined Valentino, where he held increasingly responsible positions, and was finally appointed Director of Fashion, overseeing both men's and women's collections. As the new creative director of Gucci, he is expected to define and express the Maison's vision for women's and men's design, leather goods, accessories and lifestyle collections. Sabato de Sarno will present his debut collection for Gucci at Milan Women's Fashion Week in September 2023.
