The Salvatore Ferragamo fashion house is basically a manufacturer of leather goods. And Paul Andrew, who joined the Italian luxury brand in 2016 as the chief designer of the womens footwear business and later became the creative director of the entire fashion house in 2019, has always kept this in mind. Respecting Ferragamo's history, last Saturday at Milan Fashion Week, Andrew introduced his iconic archival footwear to the brand's show and brought in some extraordinary new ideas, writes Footwearnews.com
For example, in the show of the brand's spring 2020 collection, the classic white Ferragamo ballet flats, which in the presented version found a sharper sock, were paired with silk white socks.
The show also presented numerous options for sandals with thin straps with a low sculptural heel, the same color as the upper of the shoe.
For men, Andrew offered espadrilles, sneakers, and hybrid options for both.
But the most unusual in the show was a series of PVC sandals on three straps of different colors, with a wide heel. These sandals came in combination with leather socks that gave the shoe a very innovative look. It is possible that leather socks were created exclusively for the show, but there is definitely something in the proposed style.
