Sberbank Launches Supermarket

Sberbank launches B2B2C online - the Supermarket project, which will allow everyone to purchase various products from partner stores of the system.

Pyotr Roshchin, Novline Web Project Development Director, explained why Supermarket does not carry the Sber prefix: “We got the results of the first major marketing research regarding our trading system. Based on the results of the study, the consultants recommended that we refuse to use the Sber syllable "directly in the name, because for potential buyers it is associated with the provision of financial services, and not with retail. We decided to change the working name" Sbermarket "to" Supermarket ", and at the same time, develop a communication strategy that emphasizes our relationship with Sberbank OJSC and comprehensive support from our parent organization. "

Currently, the site presents: automotive equipment, food, sports products, clothing, books, electronics, construction products, and other categories.

So far, only a test version of the project has been launched, but registration is open and available for any online store. Applications for connecting stores are accepted from July 1, although there is not enough detailed information on the network about the project and the terms of cooperation. Those who register during the test period are promised discounts and bonus promotions.

Participation in the project involves payment of 5 thousand rubles per month and 4% of sales. The project is positioned as an analogue of Wikimart, but the company does not plan to have its own warehouses and its goods.

Konstantin Tkach, head of Sotmarket’s traffic generation department, commented on this event: “The supermarket is a very interesting project. First of all, because it belongs to Sberbank, one of the strongest brands in Russia. And secondly, because this niche is still vacant. There are a couple successful projects, several sites that no longer feel very well, and that’s all. Our ebay has not yet opened. So far, the Supermarket is very reminiscent of Wikimart, but perhaps everything will change. Sberbank has a huge client base, and among them many Newcomers to the Internet, and this is the most growing segment now. There will definitely not be any problems with investments in the project. So everything will depend on the team that they can attract. Sotmarket participates in the project, we want to understand where it will develop further and what it will give opportunities for online shopping. "
