The segment of the online trade in clothing, footwear and accessories will amount to 76,5 billion rubles

In 2014, the segment of online trade in clothing, footwear and accessories should amount to 76,5 billion rubles, according to a new study by RBC.research "Russian market for online trade in clothing, footwear and accessories in 2014". Thus, over the past year, the corresponding segment of the e-commerce market will increase by only 3,8%. It is obvious that the market was affected by unfavorable macroeconomic conditions, as well as the fall in the national currency. In addition, in 2014, the incomes of Russians stopped growing, while their average credit burden increased. Today, the majority of the market for the online sale of clothing, footwear and accessories (38,6%) falls on regional Russian cities with a population of 100 to 1000 thousand people. At the same time, the total share of the two capitals, as well as the Moscow region, does not exceed the 40% indicator, which is a rather low indicator compared to other segments of the Russian Internet trading market.

These statistics are explained by the fact that in the regions the representation of clothes, shoes and accessories in traditional offline retail is significantly lower than in the capitals. In this regard, residents of these geographical areas are forced to satisfy their needs by ordering clothes, shoes and accessories in online stores, including foreign ones.

In 2014, the segment of the online trade in clothing, footwear and accessories should amount to 76,5 billion rubles, according to a new study by RBC.research “The Russian market of online trade in clothing, footwear ...
