Swedish scientists invented the 3D scanner, which thanks to a webcam capable of calculating the image volume and special software, can find out the size and all the necessary characteristics of a suitable shoe in seconds.
To get the right shots, special Microsoft Kinect or Intel Real Sense cameras are used, which, in addition to the lens, are equipped with special sensors that allow obtaining a three-dimensional image of objects in the frame. They shoot by rotating around the foot on a special installation, and then transfer the data to a computer.
“We estimate that trying on shoes or jeans in their current form, when people pick the size at random, will disappear from stores in about ten years,” said Carolyn Valerud, a spokeswoman for Stockholm-based company Volumental, which developed the program."!", - she added.
