German footwear brand Tamaris was ranked first in the Money Ranking "Best in Germany - Sustainability" in the footwear category. As part of the formation of the rating, analysts from the Institute for Management and Economic Research (IMVF) analyzed the activities of 24 thousand companies in Germany in terms of their contribution to the development of the environment and social sphere. The women's shoe brand from Detmold received the maximum number of points and won the Shoes category. Shoe concern "Wortmann" took 5th place in the rating.
The Wortmann group of companies is a family business, directly managed by the owner, and primarily links its activities with the East Westphalia-Lippe region. By participating in the “Trees for Lippe” initiative, the group of companies plans to support the restoration of the Teutoburg Forest in the amount of 125 euros over the next five years.
In addition, Wortmann uses for its own consumption the largest photovoltaic roofing solar station in the region, equal in size to a football field (7000 m2). The entire technological process of developing collections has been significantly revised towards adherence to the principles of sustainable development. Already during the design process, before launching into production, Tamaris brand models are designed on a virtual visual animation platform. This saves on samples and reduces the consumption of valuable resources. More and more collection pieces are produced using recycled and innovative materials, and climate neutrality in shipping and packaging has long been a standard in the company.
