According to a number of Russian retailers, at the beginning of next year, we should expect an increase in prices for clothing and footwear. The main reasons for the rise in prices are the growth of costs for logistics and raw materials, - writes "RBC".
So, according to Ilya Yaroshenko, the owner of the Baon clothing chain, the collections of the new season will add 10-15% in price. And according to the founder of the Gloria Jeans chain, Vladimir Melnikov, at the beginning of 2022, prices for clothing and footwear in Russian retail could rise by up to 20%. The founder of Zenden Group Andrey Pavlov also agrees with the latter.
Retailers in their forecasts cite an increase in the price of freight traffic from China to Europe due to the pandemic and disruptions in the operation of Chinese ports. According to Yaroshenko, the cost of shipping a container from Asia to Europe in 2020 was $ 3, now it reaches $ 10000. Other reasons for the appreciation are the weakening of the ruble, as well as the growth in costs for the development of the retail network, the construction of new stores.
Nevertheless, not all retailers are ready to raise prices. For example, Vitaly Stepin, Deputy General Director of Baden, when asked by Shoes Report about a possible increase in retail prices for Baden shoes due to the rise in the cost of cargo transportation from China, said that in the current situation, currency fluctuations have a greater impact on the cost of production than an increase in prices for logistics. But the weakening of the ruble will not affect the price of Baden products in Russian retail.
