Belarus has embarked on a radical modernization of the leather industry. This was stated by the president during a visit to the Minsk leather factory, which produce material for the manufacture of domestic shoes.
According to the head of state, the shoe industry of Belarus could well take an intermediate step. The country can produce very good shoes that would compete with the best European counterparts, but their prices would be more democratic. All that is needed for this is to modernize the leather industry, and with it the shoe industry.
This month, a meeting of all interested parties will be held in Vitebsk, at which they will analyze the state of affairs in both areas and outline the necessary measures. If the program is implemented, Belarus will create modern enterprises, and Belarusians will be able to buy inexpensive and high-quality finished products of domestic production.
It is expected that a complete modernization of the leather industry will take two years. Within its framework, the following is planned. At one of the enterprises in Minsk, the production rate will be significantly increased, which will allow manufacturing products with high added value. Two other Minsk enterprises, as well as one Grodno and one in Bobruisk, will be compacted, instead of four only two will remain. So it will be possible to increase their total load by 80%.
Not so long ago, the Council of Ministers of the republic adopted a ban on the export of domestic raw materials abroad. Thus, the government plans to provide shoe enterprises with cheap and high-quality raw materials.
