According to preliminary forecasts, the volume of export of footwear and leather products in Vietnam in 2017 can reach $ 18 billion, which is by 10% higher than the same indicator for 2016, the newspaper Le Courrier du Vietnam writes.
This optimistic assessment of Vietnamese exports in the segment of footwear and leather products is explained by a slight improvement in the global economic situation, and China’s decision to reduce some of the privileges for investors in the textile, leather and footwear industries in order to focus on attracting investments in the high-tech sector. The latter led to the outflow of a certain part of customers from China to Vietnam.
Vietnam’s efforts to modernize production facilities and maximize the benefits of free trade agreements with other countries were not in vain.
In 2016, the volume of export of shoes and leather goods in Vietnam reached $ 16, 2 billion, having increased by 8,8% over the year. The volume of export of shoes amounted to about $ 13 billion and $ 3,2 billion - accounted for the export of bags and other leather products.
