Vietnam seeks to increase shoe exports

Vietnamese manufacturers of footwear and leather goods seek to increase exports to $ 16,5-17 billion in the 2016 year. This was specifically mentioned at the 14 conference in Ho Chi Minh on July on the development of export of shoes and leather goods.

In 2015, Vietnamese leather and shoe products exported $ 15 billion, with annual growth of 15,8%. Vietnam ranks third in the world in terms of export of footwear and leather goods in price terms after China and Italy and is in fourth place in terms of production after China, India and Brazil. Vietnam annually produces about 920 million pairs of shoes, of which more than 800 million are exported. Most of about 33% of Vietnamese exports go to the countries of the European Union.

The formation of a common market for Southeast Asian states and the implementation of free trade agreements open up many opportunities for the footwear industry in Vietnam.
