20 million Russian citizens regularly (once or more a year) make purchases on AliExpress, such data was announced by the head of AliExpress in Russia, Liu Wei, in a recent interview with RBC.
The Chinese holding also plans to develop a platform for cross-border trade not only from China to Russia, but also from Russia to China.
In addition to AliExpress, the Alibaba Group is developing a local Tmall marketplace in Russia, a platform for major international brands, whose revenue for the year has reached 10% of AliExpress Russia turnover.
Today, most of the sales of AliExpress and Tmall are electronics products, however, the direction of FMCG is actively developing, in particular the sale of clothing and children's goods.
According to the Association of Internet Trading Companies (AKIT), AliExpress.com is the most popular online platform with Chinese goods in Russia, with a market share of 86,8%. In the 2018 year, according to the forecasts of the association, the revenue of AliExpress in Russia will amount to 212 billion rubles.
