The annual sales volume of fakes exceeds the volume of the legal market for luxury goods in Russia

The annual sales volume of fake luxury goods reached 280 billion rubles, while the legal segment of luxury goods in Russia is estimated at 250 billion rubles, writes Kommersant citing Brandmonitor study. 

The study says that shopping centers and clothing markets are the main distribution channels for fake luxury fashion goods, with 40% and 30% respectively. At the same time, online trade in counterfeit luxury accounts for about 84 billion rubles, of which 25 billion rubles are sales through social networks and marketplaces. Most often, Russian consumers buy fake T-shirts, sneakers, jeans and bags.
