The world's largest online auction site eBay plans to introduce the first localized mobile application for Russia by the end of the 2012 year, an eBay spokesman told reporters on Tuesday, 16 on October.
“The launch dates do not depend on us. November-December - at the latest, ”said Sergey Ivashov, who is in charge of the strategy for the development of mobile applications for eBay.
The first localized app will be eBay Fashion, which will offer clothing, footwear and accessories. A localized version of the full-featured eBay app will be available in Q2013 XNUMX.
As Ivashov noted, both applications will be available for both the iOS and Android platforms. At the same time, English-language versions of these applications are already available to Russian users.
EBay Fashion has a search by product category and by brand, and the search results can be filtered by various parameters - for example, price range, size. Users will also be able to postpone purchases and view a list of previously purchased items.
According to Ivashov, with a certain periodicity (1 or 2 once a week), sales will be held, the goods for which will be selected specifically for the Russians.
EBay launched the Russian version of the eBay.ru auction in March 2010. According to the statistics of the resource, the number of active Russian users increased over 9 months of 2012 of the year by 82%, however, information about the number of users was not disclosed. At the same time, users in Russia have already 200 downloaded the eBay English-language mobile application thousands of times.
