According to research conducted by the non-profit organization Roskachestvo, more than 70% of Russians trust the GOST marking, but unscrupulous manufacturers prefer to apply the popular marking even in cases where the quality of the product does not meet the state standard. A common deception is the marking “orthopedic shoes”, which does not fulfill any medical function, but costs more and is positioned as approved by the medical community. Another example of a misleading trick is the eco-leather label, even though the material is a regular leatherette.
