Nike, Lamoda, Detsky Mir, Sportmaster notified the government of Belarus about the forced temporary suspension of the supply of shoes to the country due to problems related to labeling, which started in the country on November 1, 2021, Vedomosti writes.
Due to the difficulties in entering information about the Russian-style marking codes on the shoes into the local monitoring system, it is not possible to put the goods into circulation, the companies complain.
As the vice-president of the Association of Sports Industry Enterprises Dmitry Vishnyakov explains, products are exported to Belarus through Russia, so suppliers have to label goods twice - first at the Russian Center for the Development of Advanced Technologies (CRPT), and then at the Belarusian operator Belblankavid. At the same time, as noted in the CRPT, the Belarusian labeling requirements contradict the Russian ones - when importing goods into the country, manufacturers and importers are required to provide more detailed information than in Russia, which is why errors arise.
Suppliers of footwear from Russia to Belarus run the risk of being brought to administrative responsibility under Article 13.24 of the Belarusian Administrative Offenses Code (a fine of 50% of the value of the subject of violation).
"Sportmaster" has not yet suspended deliveries and hopes for a speedy resolution of the problem, Lamoda has suspended deliveries, but has already partially resumed them, since "some problems have been resolved." Detsky Mir and Nike declined to comment.
According to the FCS, in 2020 Belarus accounted for almost 30% of the total export of Russian footwear, 7,3 million pairs; in total, 2020 million pairs of shoes were produced in Russia in 25,9.
Similar problems arise for Russian companies when supplying footwear to Kazakhstan, where, according to Vishnyakov, Russian codes are currently not recognized at all. The share of Russian exports of footwear to Kazakhstan is approximately equal to that of Belarus - about 7,5 million pairs.
