In the first week of the new year, the largest Russian marketplace Wildberries noted an increase in demand for traditional Russian winter shoes - felt boots and galoshes.
According to the online retailer, the demand for this shoe category from January 1 to January 7, 2021, grew 1,6 times (in pieces) compared to the same period in 2020.
The reason for the popularity of felt boots and galoshes is the more snowy and colder winter. Increased demand for this product was observed in Moscow and the Moscow region, sales increased by 1,5 times. Also, sharp jumps in demand for felt boots and galoshes were recorded in Sakhalin (+ 550%), Kurgan (+ 375%), Tomsk (+ 280%) and Kirov (+ 271%) regions, the Republic of Karelia (+ 269%), Astrakhan region (+ 240%), Altai Territory (+ 225%), Novgorod Region (+ 215%), the republics of Khakassia (+ 229%) and Tyva (+ 200%).
