The introduction of a ban on the supply of a number of food products from countries that have announced anti-Russian sanctions is worrying not only for grocery store operators. Some shoe and clothing retailers have already warned their investors about possible disruptions to business processes in Russia and Ukraine.
There are no objective reasons for panic yet, however, the general atmosphere in the market is wary. Most of the companies interviewed by Shoes Report refrained from commenting on this topic.
Some are cautious with forecasts. “Alba is operating normally. In the pool of our suppliers there are more than 70 factories located in both the Old and the New Worlds, ”Stanislav Koloskov, Alba Marketing and Advertising Director answered with restraint.
But there are those who are completely optimistic. “The sanctions are unlikely to affect clothes and shoes,” says Dmitry Politov, Soho’s marketing analyst. - Unlike products, in our country these categories of goods are produced in very small quantities. The share of imports from America is also small. Perhaps the current situation in connection with an increase in patriotic moods will affect loyalty to specific brands. But I doubt that all those who previously purchased Tommy Hilfiger will refuse purchases in favor of Russian brands. Our business is tied to the middle class, which perceives what is happening very adequately, there are no cheers among them. ”
