Fashion is dead - long live fashion
While we decorated Christmas trees, filled with New Year’s expectations of a new, kind, bright, in France, the famous trend predictor Lee Edelcourt proclaimed Anti-Fashion, a manifesto of the future fashion. And according to the expert, it has already come.
The main thesis of the manifesto sounds radically: "fashion has died, soon something completely new should appear. Ahead is the emancipation of everything." Edelcourt believes that modern fashion has reached its peak. Modern education, production, retail, fashion shows and the work of designers, as well as marketing and the consumers themselves - everything becomes different.
Modern consumers are their own designers. And they want every thing to be individual and original. Such an approach to the wardrobe suggests that there is a revival of couture in the historical sense of the word, Edelcourt notes. The Schiaparelli brand has already launched the pret-a-couture collection with the goal of bringing couture closer to a wide audience.
The era of “monsters” in men's fashion is replacing a new time. As a result of further feminization of men, the market of men's clothing and shoes will grow by 65% in the coming years. It will become more diverse, there will be a place for bright flowers, jewelry, lace, but at the same time, muscularity will not disappear.
As for women's fashion, according to Edelkort, there is a new stage of matriarchy in society. This trend will lead to the emergence of new prints and patterns that can be feminine and courageous at the same time. Women will no longer dress for men, but only for themselves; they will prefer "soft, rounded, but strong forms."
Age boundaries in fashion will finally be erased, the so-called "Ageless Generation" will appear. Both young and old people will dress the same, the dress code will disappear. "People will stop buying for consumption, and will begin to live more responsibly, in accordance with ethical principles."
According to the expert, fashion will penetrate even the farthest corners, not only urban, but also rural residents will dress fashionably.
The main color will be white, personifying the calm and peace that are so lacking in society. Brown will return, and black will go away.
“For 15 years, we tried to adapt to the new century. The time has come. Enjoy and emancipate,” says Lee Edelkort.
