Printed shoes became the main hit of the past Fashion Week in Milan. And if in clothes the presence of prints, as a rule, adds an image of decorativeness, the use of prints in the design of shoes elevates everyday models of shoes and ankle boots to unique pieces, writes Footwearnews.
The brands that decorated their shoes with prints were not shy about bright colors. The main shades were the colors of the Renaissance red and gold. Some designers used a bright color palette to create images that are close to pop culture. But, anyway, all the printed shoes presented on the catwalk of Fashion Week looked fresh and unusual.
Perhaps the most memorable model can be called Dolce & Gabbana loafers. The brand's designers have adorned a pair of loafers with a Renaissance image of the Madonna and Child. The silhouette of a butterfly, adjacent to the familiar painting and decorated with stones heel added a slightly more modern look to this model.
Salvatore Ferragamo introduced tall over the knee boots with a hybrid pattern that resembles both snake leather and crocodile leather.
Marni cat-heeled shoes in the style of Hollywood actress's favorite shoes, Audrey Hepburn, were decorated with a print reminiscent of a hand-drawn pen drawing.
This model is presented in three color options - in beige color with a black print, in red color with a white print and in black color with a white print.
Prints have taken a key place in the collection of the luxury brand Versace, both in shoes and in clothes. On the runway of the Week, the brand demonstrated sandals with a floral print along with tights, on which the same pattern was applied, which created a kind of visual illusion - “it is not clear where the shoes ended and where the stocking began”.
At the heart of Versace prints were marine motifs and floral patterns. Another theme of the brand’s collection was pop art paintings in the style of Andy Warhol’s paintings depicting famous characters of pop culture.
